3D food... what will they think of next?

These guys have stuck a bunch of pureed food into a 3D printer!
While that means you could make a tomato out of pumpkin puree, or an exact replica of the eiffel tower made out of liquorice, these folk have other ideas:
Imagine [a food] almost like a meatloaf that absorbs sauce like a sponge. That is cool — much cooler to me than printing some ersatz steak.
Yeah, they want to play around with textures and create something not possible with any other techniques.
Sounds cool. I just hope it doesn't get used for something like Paris Hilton's next cake!

FYI- ersatz means fake/not real.

Holy Moley!

Check out this car!
The Cosworth Forumla 1 engine is just the fuel pump!!!!!

It's 13.4 meters long, which isn't too bad when you consider its ROCKET is 3.6 meters long on its own.
Good luck with your parallel parking.

My new fav web store!

So, I can't remember where exactly I first clicked from- possibly AOM, Being Manly or similar- but my new favourite store to browse is definitely the Duluth Trading Co.

Their suspenders (above) are at the top of my (realistic) want list, while the replica Zippo, and some of their 'fire hose' gear sit on my "not-so-likely-to-get-it" want list. Also, 'the apothecary' dept is old-timey cool.

Check out the Duluth Trading Co. -where it's all designed and tested by tradesmen!

How To Make People Ignore Your Emails!

Check out this page on The Oatmeal!
Something I think we can all appreciate/learn from (I'm looking at you unnamed relatives and facebook people)!

The Oatmeal is a funny web comic- take a look around while you're there.

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark

Not to be confused with Benicio Del Toro, Guillermo Del Toro's next film is "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark". I love Pan's Labyrinth, but this is scarier than the quasi-fairytale by the looks of the teaser.
Follow the linky to the official site to watch the teaser, but BEWARE: IF YOU DON'T LIKE SCARY MOVIES, TURN BACK NOW!

And yes, I did wee a little jump at the end of the trailer.

Queensland floods

Streets of Toowoomba

Here is the link to ABC's map of towns affected by the queensland floods. Zoom out for a greater perspective of how vast the area is. ABC News - Queensland towns
This map (also from ABC News) shows the suburbs of Brisbane under threat: ABC News - Brisbane suburbs

As I'm sure is the case with all Australians, those affected by this disaster are in our thoughts and prayers.

Mac appalicious!

The Mac App Store is open! Yay for shiny!
Installed and browsy!

If you have a Mac, run system update from the Apple menu and install the system update that is available to access the new Mac App Store.
The Mac App Store is the new shiny place to go to find, buy and install apps for your OS X Snow Leopard machine. It works just about the same as the iTunes app store- you browse for the app you want, click buy, your card is charged and you download your new app!
For more info, go to www.apple.com/au/mac/app-store/

! Exclamation mark1!
